PARTICIPANTSAbsolutely! The Women's Half Marathon and 5K is for athletes of all speeds and sizes. Please note: Due to city road closure and traffic requirements, ALL participants MUST complete the half marathon within the 4 hour course time limit, and ALL 5K participants MUST complete the course within 1 hour. To finish within the course time limits you must maintain a pace of at least 18:00 minutes per mile (or faster). DO I HAVE TO BE PART OF A TEAM TO PARTICIPATE? There are two ways in which you can register for The Women's Half Marathon: either as an individual or as a team member. A Half Marathon team consists of at least 5 female participants, one of whom will also be designated as the captain. You will also need a team name. The captain registers herself first and establishes the team name (and password, if desired). Then, all other members will register themselves and chose the option to join that team. There are no registration discounts for teams. All members of the team run the full 13.1 Half Marathon course. Regardless of how many members on your team, everyone will be timed as individuals. The five fastest female times will be added together for the team score. If your team does not have at least 5 female finisher's, you will not receive a team score. All team members are also eligible for individual awards. The team option is available in the Half Marathon distance only. Awards are given for the Fastest Team and the Largest Team.
The Women's Half Marathon is open to both men & women participants, however, age group and overall awards will be given to female participants only. We suggest that men participate only in support of a woman or a charity. If a male is interested in participating in this event to win, get an award, or PR we would be happy to suggest some other events in the local area that would be better suited for those goals. ARE THERE ANY AGE REQUIREMENTS TO PARTICIPATE? You must be 12 years old prior to race day to participate in the half marathon and 8 years old to participate in the 5k. Volunteers are vital to the success of the event and not only are WHM volunteers a super group of people, they get in on all the behind the scenes race day action! The event will need hundreds of volunteers to staff the aid stations, work the Expo and offer support to the runners at the start and finish. AWARDSWHAT PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED AND IN WHAT CATEGORIES? The Women’s Half Marathon will recognize and award the top three female runners to cross the finish line in both the half marathon and 5K. These overall winners will be determined solely by the order in which they cross the finish line, as opposed to chip times. Therefore, female runners who would like to compete for the top three spots should plan to line-up as close to the starting line as possible. This is an open race and there will not be separate start times or a designated “elite” wave. In addition to the first, second, and third place winners, the Women’s Half Marathon and 5K will recognize the top female finishers in each age group. Chip-time will be used to establish age group winners and awards will be given in person after the race. If you are unable to attend the awards ceremony, your award will be mailed to the address on your race registration. Each race participant is timed individually, therefore, members of half marathon teams are eligible for team, overall, and age group awards. Teams times will be calculated by adding together the five fastest female times on each team. Awards will be given to the top three fastest teams and also to the largest team (team with the most registered members).
WHEN AND WHERE WILL THE AWARD CEREMONY BE HELD? The 5K awards ceremony will begin at 9:30 am. The half marathon awards ceremony will follow the conclusion of the 5K awards. Both events will take place near the finish line in front of the main stage in Albert Whitted Park. DO ALL RACERS RECEIVE A MEDAL OR CERTIFICATE? Each finisher of the Women’s Half Marathon & 5K will receive a medal. POST-RACE INFORMATIONWHERE CAN I FIND RACE RESULTS?
